On 25th September 2024, the Department of Civil Engineering at DPG Institute of Technology and Management (DPGITM) hosted a one-day workshop focused on STAAD Pro, a premier software in structural analysis and design. Sponsored by the CADD Centre in Gurugram, the workshop aimed to provide students with practical insights and hands-on experience with STAAD Pro, which is essential for contemporary civil engineering projects.

The Department of Civil Engineering recently organized a site visit for students to enhance their practical knowledge and understanding of real-world engineering applications. The visit was supervised by Mr. Swapan Das, Project Manager at Nitigya Buildcon Private Limited, along with faculty members who accompanied the students.

Objectives of the Visit
The primary purpose of this site visit was to familiarize students with various aspects of construction, including:

WORKSHOP STRUCTURE:

Introduction to IIT PAVE: The workshop commenced with an overview of IIT PAVE software and its significance in civil engineering projects. Basic concepts such as flexible pavement, rigid pavement, and specifications for designing pavement for road construction were explained to familiarize participants with the IIT PAVE tabs.

Fundamentals of IIT PAVE in Civil Engineering: The session delved into the specific applications of IIT PAVE in civil engineering, including pavement design, specification of IRC codes, and minimum thickness of different layers of pavement. Real-world examples and case studies were presented to illustrate the practical utility of IIT PAVE in various domains.

Hands-on Training: Participants were provided with individual workstations equipped with IIT PAVE software. Guided by an experienced tutor, they were given practical exercises to create IIT PAVE models of flexible and rigid pavement, analyze design parameters, and generate detailed parameters of pavement.
