A Book Review Competition was organized on 18th May 2023 at Seminar Hall, DPGITM, providing a platform for students to showcase their analytical and critical thinking skills through insightful reviews of various literary works. The event was graced by the esteemed judge, Dr. Urvashi Kuhad, Assistant Professor at Delhi University, who brought her vast expertise in literature and literary criticism to evaluate the participants’ reviews.
The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across different disciplines, each presenting a compelling analysis of their chosen books. The reviews covered a wide range of genres, including fiction, non-fiction, classics, and contemporary works. Participants were assessed on their ability to interpret themes, analyze writing styles, and provide a balanced critique of the books they reviewed.
In her address, Dr. Urvashi Kuhad commended the participants for their well-articulated reviews and encouraged them to engage deeply with literature. She emphasized the importance of critical reading and its role in shaping perspectives. The winners were selected based on originality, depth of analysis, clarity of expression, and coherence in argumentation.
The competition concluded with a felicitation ceremony where Avni (DS) was awarded the first prize for her outstanding review of The Alchemist. The second position was secured by Niti (AI). The event proved to be an enriching experience, inspiring students to delve deeper into literary analysis and develop a nuanced understanding of literature.
Dr. Priti Gahlot, MD, DPGITM, judged the event and interacted with students, explaining the importance of reading books and the concept of communication and networking with physical demos.
