On 25th September 2024, the Department of Civil Engineering at DPG Institute of Technology and Management (DPGITM) hosted a one-day workshop focused on STAAD Pro, a premier software in structural analysis and design. Sponsored by the CADD Centre in Gurugram, the workshop aimed to provide students with practical insights and hands-on experience with STAAD Pro, which is essential for contemporary civil engineering projects.

Workshop Overview

Objectives
The primary goals of the workshop were to:

• Introduce students to STAAD Pro and its applications in structural engineering.
• Enhance students’ practical skills in using STAAD Pro for real-world engineering scenarios.
• Highlight the significance of structural analysis in the design of buildings, bridges, and towers.

Keynote Presentation
The workshop commenced with an engaging introduction by Mr. Mohan. He outlined the critical role of structural analysis in civil engineering, explaining how STAAD Pro has transformed traditional engineering practices. Mr. Mohan emphasized that effective structural analysis not only ensures the safety and durability of structures but also optimizes design efficiency.

Theoretical Session
In this part, Mr. Mohan covered the following topics:
