IIT PAVE workshop
Date: 30 April 2024
Location: Seminar Hall, DPG Institute of Technology and Management, Gurugram.
Objective: The one-day workshop aimed to introduce students and faculty members of the Civil Engineering Department to IIT PAVE software (Software for Pavement Design) and its applications in the field of transportation engineering.
WORKSHOP STRUCTURE:
Introduction to IIT PAVE: The workshop commenced with an overview of IIT PAVE software and its significance in civil engineering projects. Basic concepts such as flexible pavement, rigid pavement, and specifications for designing pavement for road construction were explained to familiarize participants with the IIT PAVE tabs.
Fundamentals of IIT PAVE in Civil Engineering: The session delved into the specific applications of IIT PAVE in civil engineering, including pavement design, specification of IRC codes, and minimum thickness of different layers of pavement. Real-world examples and case studies were presented to illustrate the practical utility of IIT PAVE in various domains.
Hands-on Training: Participants were provided with individual workstations equipped with IIT PAVE software. Guided by an experienced tutor, they were given practical exercises to create IIT PAVE models of flexible and rigid pavement, analyze design parameters, and generate detailed parameters of pavement. This hands-on session enabled participants to gain proficiency in using IIT PAVE tools effectively.
Industry Insights and Career Opportunities: A panel discussion featuring academic expert provided valuable insights into the latest trends and technologies shaping the field of IIT PAVE in civil engineering. Participants had the opportunity to learn about career pathways and job prospects in sectors such as construction, infrastructure development, and project management.
Q&A Session: The workshop concluded with an interactive question and answer session, allowing participants to seek clarification on any doubts or queries regarding IIT PAVE software and its applications in transportation engineering.
Outcomes:
- Enhanced understanding of IIT PAVE principles and their relevance to civil engineering.
- Improved proficiency in using IIT PAVE software for design, analysis, and documentation tasks.
- Exposure to advanced features and techniques for efficient IIT PAVE workflow.
- Insight into career opportunities and industry demands in the field of IIT PAVE in civil engineering.
Acknowledgments:
We extend our gratitude to the academic experts and participants for their valuable contributions towards making the workshop a resounding success. Special thanks to Dr. Sachin Das, Assistant Professor, DCRUST Murthal for their generous support in organizing the event and motivating students to start learning software used in industries.
