The much-anticipated Literary Week was celebrated with great enthusiasm and intellectual vigour from 21–25 October 2024 at DPGITM. The week-long event aimed to enhance literary skills, foster creativity, and encourage healthy competition among participants.
Inauguration Ceremony
The event was inaugurated by Dr. Anchal Mishra, Professor, Institute of Management Studies, Ghaziabad. She graced the occasion with an insightful session on Stress and Time Management, providing valuable techniques to help students manage their academic and extracurricular commitments effectively.
Day-Wise Activities
Day 1: Extempore & Poetry Recitation
The week commenced with an Extempore Speech Competition, where participants showcased their quick thinking and eloquence on diverse topics. This was followed by a Poetry Recitation Contest, where students beautifully rendered classic and self-composed poems, exhibiting their literary flair and expressive abilities.
Day 2: Debate Competition
The second day featured an intense Debate Competition on contemporary and thought-provoking issues. Participants passionately argued for and against topics, honing their argumentative and persuasive skills.
Day 3: Group Discussion
The third day witnessed an engaging Group Discussion session, where students exchanged diverse perspectives on literature, philosophy, and current affairs. This activity encouraged teamwork, critical thinking, and the ability to articulate opinions effectively.
Day 4: Story Writing & Storytelling
Creativity took centre stage on the fourth day with a Story Writing Competition, where students penned original tales, weaving imaginative narratives. This was followed by a Storytelling Session, where participants captivated the audience with their expressive narration and compelling characters.
Day 5: Spell Bee Competition
The grand finale of Literary Week was the much-awaited Spell Bee Competition, testing students’ vocabulary, spelling accuracy, and linguistic skills. The competition was fierce, with participants displaying remarkable command over language and orthography.
Valedictory Session
The week concluded with an inspiring Valedictory Session led by Dr. Urvashi Kuhad, Assistant Professor, Ram Lal Anand College, University of Delhi, South Campus, New Delhi. She congratulated the participants for their enthusiasm and emphasised the importance of literary activities in personal and professional growth.
Conclusion
Literary Week 2024 was a resounding success, fostering a love for literature and honing the language skills of all participants. It provided a platform for students to express themselves, develop confidence, and appreciate the power of words. The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony recognising outstanding performers across all activities.
Such initiatives play a crucial role in shaping young minds and nurturing their literary talents. The event left participants and spectators inspired, looking forward to more such enriching experiences in the future.
